Alltheinterweb was created some years ago as an attempt to cobble together a search engine and web directory using freely available cgi/perl and php scripts, as well as a wordpress blog.
In recent years the site has been hindered by changes such as Google insisting on websites using SSL rendering the FDSE search engine script obsolete because it only works with websites using http:// in the web address, and not https:// to indicate the site uses SSL.
Then the YALD web directory script also became obsolete with the change from PHP 5.x to PHP 7.x and PHP 8.x – it no longer worked without paying the webhosts extra to keep the older version of php available.
Earlier in 2025 the original wordpress blog self-destructed, and I’ve started trying to back it up with the aid of the Internet Archive and Blogger/Blogspot.
At time of writing I’m trying to get a new web directory working using a new PHP script I’ve bought with actual money, to replace the less than perfect stand-in using a wordpress plug-in I had on the self-destructed blog.
I also have plans to create additonal wordpress sites for seperate AlltheInterweb News and AlltheInterweb Shopper blogs to offer a news website and a shopping deals site.
